TEDxPeachtree is excited to share that our own Erico Mattos was named 2015 Emerging Leader of the Year by the Georgia Bio Association. Georgia Bio is the private, non-profit association whose members include pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, medical centers, universities and research institutes, government groups and other business organizations involved in the development of life sciences related products and services. This award honors young professionals for outstanding contributions to the success of the Emerging Leaders Network (ELN) and the growth of Georgia’s life sciences community.

Erico spoke at TEDxPeachtree 2014 about the use of biofeedback in hydroponics to allow plants to monitor their own sunlight exposure. We had the wonderful experience of hearing and seeing a demonstration of his work. Erico cofounded Photosyntex in 2013 and the Emerging Leader of the Year Award celebrated his success there as well as his presentation at TEDxPeachtree. We are thrilled to have shared the stage with Erico and wish to congratulate him on this accomplishment!

Nia Baker has been thrilled to serve as the TEDxPeachtree Content Manager this year. Having roots in Atlanta almost ten years, she has worked in the nonprofit sector for the last five, focusing on effective systems and creative communication. She will complete her Masters in Professional Counseling and Trauma Specialization this spring and believes in the dignity of each experience. Nia enjoys running past Atlanta street art, steaming French press coffee, and a really effective adjective.
