Is this your first time speaking at a TEDx event? What are your thoughts on presenting on October 17h?

I presented “OffShore Farming” at the TEDxUGA in 2013. I am very excited to be part of a TEDx again and I am looking forward to present on October 17. TEDxPeachtree has proved to be the best TEDx in GA and it will be an honor to be a presenter at this event.

At the end of the day, what is it about your work that keeps you going?

What keeps me going and moving forward is the challenge, the unpredictable, the unknown. Working on a project that was never done before is exciting and extremely challenging. The passion and the chase for a write solution is my main motivation. The reward after a few “a-ha” moments is so pleasant that it can keep us going during the thousands of fail moments. That is science, just amazing!

What is your passion?

I love science and I love being a scientist. I consider myself very lucky for being able to do what I like. I can tell I live for Mondays instead of weekends. Waking up and going to work makes me happy. I also love Ducati motorcycles!

What is one place you’ve visited that you’ll never forget?

In 2012 I was selected by Singularity University and had the opportunity to participate at the Graduate Studies Program. That was a mind blowing experience that changed my life. After 3 months studying at Singularity University I have now a new perspective of how much we are capable of. I believe that the intelligent use of exponential technologies can solve world grand challenges and these solutions can come from anyone from everywhere.

Which talent would you most like to have?

I would love to play a musical instrument. Although I love rock n’roll, I never learned how to play.

What is your motto?

Intellectual curiosity. This is the driven force behind me. The simple fact of wanting to know “why” and “how” is what makes me move forward. This is valid for my house appliances to the universe and our origins.

Don’t miss out on hearing Erico and the other presenters illuminate Atlanta this year on October 17th!
