Dr. Adam Marcus is an associate professor in the hematology and medical oncology department at Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute. His laboratory, Marcus Lab, studies how cancers invade and metastasize in order to develop treatments that target cancer metastasis and has received funding from the National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, Winship Cancer Institute and other public and private sources.

In addition to his work in cancer research, Dr. Marcus has led numerous seminars on his research for both scientists and the general public. He also serves as the director of the Emory Integrated Cellular Imaging Core, which provides cutting-edge imaging technologies to scientific investigators.

A former Georgia Cancer Coalition Scholar, Dr. Marcus has been published in more than 45 scientific publications and has received national and local recognition for his research and teaching. He is the co-founder of Students for Science, a K-12 community outreach program dedicated to stimulating critical thinking and enthusiasm for the sciences, and writes for notamadscientist.com, a science education blog.

Originally from New York City, Dr. Marcus has been living in Atlanta for more than 12 years with his wife Laura and two children. He is a former All-American Division III collegiate tennis player and enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, camping, and playing sports.
