Tasty Tastings

Frozen Pints

We will feature beer ice cream tastings from Frozen Pints Craft Beer Ice Cream. The Atlanta-based Frozen Pints crew found inspiration following a party snafu involving some spilt beer in an ice cream maker – combine the finest craft beers and local ingredients to put a whole new spin on a classic frozen treat. They’ll bring their unique flavor profiles and a lot of love for craft beer and ice cream to TEDxPeachtree 2013 with some fantastically fun (and tasty) fare with Frozen Pints tastings.

Coffee Tastings

We are very proud to be brewing coffee beans from THRIVE Farmers throughout the day. This Georgia-based company was founded during a time of adversity – the financial crisis of 2008 – and built on a strong sense of fairness for coffee farmers everywhere. It now processes beans grown by more than 300 farmers from six regions in three countries and generates returns to the farmers that exceed Fair Trade by up to 10 times through its innovative “vertically-integrated-supply-chain coffee” approach.

Fresh Harvest

We’re excited to announce Atlanta-based Fresh Harvest will be providing fresh whole fruit to attendees throughout the day. Fresh Harvest is your direct partnership with local, organic farmers and the health they  provide. The Fresh Harvest teams gathers up produce and delivers it right to your door for a convenient, fresh way to automate healthy eating that also supports self-sustaining, organic farmers from right down the road.  They’re changing the city of Atlanta and helping to catalyze its residents.

Ambiance

As in the previous year, soft seating will be offered in some parts of the auditorium and in the lobby. This year’s soft seating will be provided by Georgia-based Jaxx Casual Living. Jaxx creates furniture and accessories that not only help shape our personal environment, but also the environment as a whole. The company designs products that can become meaningful to how people lead their lives through combining beautiful forms with flawless functionality.  The company’s first product in 2006 – bean bags featuring a proprietary blend of virgin scrap from other Atlanta furniture manufacturers – were just the beginning.

Notable fact: The company’ factory and its 100+ stitchers, designers, production workers, administrative and customer support staff are all based here in Atlanta.

Art

We are excited to be featuring, for the very first time, original works by two artists who are part of the innovative Atlanta-based non-profit artist organization Dashboard Co-Op, that also happens to be the newest member of the TEDxPeachtree Community Partner program.

Romy Aura Maloon

Romy Aura Maloon

Romy Aura Maloon is a first generation American, born of South African parents. Her work is an attempt to ingratiate and reconcile the disparate identities and geographic spaces her upbringing and ancestral background create. Working as a caterer and event coordinator, her material use is often associated with social events, décor crafting and site specific exploration.

Romy’s works have been exhibited throughout Georgia and Florida, including at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. She participated in Tomorrow Stars, the Verge Art Miami Beach in conjunction with Art Basel Miami.  Romy studied Fine Arts at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida.
